The question is similar to “How long is a string?  The answer is “It depends”.  A review of Calgary wedding venue websites; Wedding Wire and online sources suggests for 2024 the wedding venue cost will range from $5,000 to $20,000.  Things that will impact the cost are venue style; size; hours; amenities included.  Venues want your business, don’t hesitate to look at off-season and mid-week weddings to get the venue of your dreams at a cost within your budget.

The venue is generally booked 6 to 18 months prior to the wedding.  If you are planning a summer wedding, booking the earlier the better as summer dates fill up fast.   In our experience the most popular date in the year is the Saturday for the 3rd week in August.  Why?  We believe it has to do with stability of weather, family travel plans, school schedules and in Alberta – farming practices.

2:30 or 3:00 pm are the optimum times for the Ceremony.    A ceremony generally takes between 30 & 60 minutes.  This leaves time for photos before evening meal.  Any earlier and guests find they have too much time before the evening activities begin.  Any later and you will have to rush pictures eat later.   Also consider, photographer hours and sunset time – both important in planning your day.
